The volume export of palm kernel expeller from Indonesia has been recorded at 18 MMT, which is more than 14 MMT recorded last year during the same time. The commodity has been on high demand especially in the Eastern Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea. It is used as a mix in animal feed or a greener alternative energy source for the biomass power generators.
Palm kernel expeller has emerged as a new strategic export commodity. been This has been welcomed by the National Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) manufacturers as the expeller was been thrown away or considered waste generated in the production process of PKO. These manufacturers estimated that the demand and the export volume of this commodity could grow by as much as 12% by the end of the second quarter of 2021. The manufacturers are trying to expand the market for this commodity further to the Northern American countries.
