The domestic consumption of fish products took a significant hit with the shutdown of restaurants. Special campaigns for bream, salmon, trout and sea bass are organized to boost domestic consumption in households. Domestic demand for fish products went down by 60 % in March. On the other hand, the domestic demand for canned tuna has increased in March.

Turkish fish exports to the United States, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait also dropped significantly, with a 60 % decline between March 10th and 20th. Despite some recovery, the export turnover is still 30 % lower than it used to be compared to last year.
