There has been a slight retail price increase for some commodities in the traditional and modern markets across Indonesia due to the sudden increase in market demand. Lime, for example, is now sold at IDR 10.000/Kg, from the normal level price of IDR 8.000/Kg. The price of fresh turmeric is also on the rise as this commodity is now sold at IDR 8000/Kg from the normal price of IDR 5000/Kg. The suppliers argued that they had to increase the price as the supply of these commodities is depleting due to the implemented lockdown. From the consumers' perspective, the increasing demand is mostly caused by the fact that the aforementioned commodities can be consumed traditionally as herbal drinks to improve immunity, especially during the outbreak of the coronavirus.
