An increase in fish price due to low supply in Indonesia

The price of wild-caught fish in the markets across Indonesia has gone up by 5% in the first two weeks of March 2020. Some fish such as snapper, grouper, and mackerel have become slightly more expensive, even in the major wholesale markets in the major provinces such as Jakarta, Central Java, and East Java. The price hike was mainly caused by the heavy rainy season that has been going on in the island of Java which prevented fishermen from going to the sea. Although the current price hike is not that large, consumers are concern about further price increases if low fishing activities continue.
