Strong demand for turmeric and ginger due to the pandemic and the rainy season

The national demand for ginger and turmeric is still going strong, as these commodities can be used not only as immunity-strengthening agents but also as ingredients to make the herbal drink to warm the body during the current rainy season in the majority of the regions in Indonesia. For reference, local farmers in Wonogiri in Central Java stated that they are receiving high demand for the aforementioned commodities at around 2 MT/week, which comes from the buyers around Central Java province, as well as the neighboring provinces. Moreover, the price for these commodities is still profitable for these farmers as they can market them at IDR 85.000/Kg at the wholesaler level.
