From the end of 2017, Myanmar's main buyers of marine products, like Saudia Arabia and the United States, stopped importing fish, prawn, and crab. The less demand affected the local fisheries businesses and marine product companies, which led some of them to close down the export department. In recent years, one of the Myanmar trading partners, Bangladesh, increased the demand for marine products, which has forced the industry to explore new products and possibly increase activity in exports.
