As the rainy season commences in Nigeria, producers of Onion in Northern Nigeria are worried about a resurgence of the Purple Blotch disease which mainly attacks during the rainy season onion.
The Purple blotch disease causes stunted growth in the onion plants, making them unable to yield fruitful results. The disease affected over 50% of onion produced in 2019 rainy season which resulted in a shortage of the commodity across the onion producing areas in Nigeria.
