The domestic pepper production in Vietnam is quite large. Vietnam is now only focusing on exporting raw materials, which are lower in value compared to the value-added pepper product. By-products from peppers include black and white pepper powder, red pepper, green pepper in brine, etc. Within the value-added peppers, there is a huge price variation: white pepper has a high export value, but only accounts for 10-15% of total output, resulting in low value for the domestic pepper industry.
