Hungary's 27% VAT rate causes the market share of edible oils to grow on the domestic market

Despite the fact that 80% of the refined sunflower oil produced in Hungary is exported, the country also imports 30 thousand tons annually and the share of import is constantly increasing since 2010 reaching 45% by 2014. The cause of that being that Hungary has a VAT rate of 27% which is the highest in the EU currently.
