Palm Oil Rejuvenation program to commence in Riau province, Indonesia

To preserve the palm oil fruit plantations in the Riau province has received a targeted Palm Oil Rejuvenation program from the central government of Indonesia that would come into effect in May 2020 which will last 6 months. Palm Oil Rejuvenation (PSR) is intended to increase the fertility of the land by halting palm oil plantation in the land. This program would cover around 24,000 hectares of land. Even though this program is expected to decrease the production volume of palm kernel fruit bunches from this province, the central government, through its Ministry of Agriculture argued that this initiative would be beneficial in the long run as the land would stay productive for a longer period of time.
