Poppy seed production weather conditions in Czechia and usage for edible oil

Poppy plant was originally a indigenous to warmer climates, but they adopted well to colder climate of Central Europe as well. Only the minority of produced poppy is used for direct human consumption and to produce edible oil. The opium poppy plant contains alkaloids used by the pharmaceutical industry.
Normally poppy seeds don't contain the opium alkaloids, but can become contaminated with alkaloids as a result of pest damage and during harvesting.
