In order to produce a higher protein meal or oil, and therefore obtain better prices for them, soybeans with a larger content of protein can be imported through barges from Paraguay and from Bolivia (ground freight is too expensive). There is a timeframe limitation since it can only be done a few months a year from Bolivia due to the tidal level of the rivers.
