Silver lining for Vietnamese agricultural industry amid difficult times

The Vietnamese agricultural industry has not been affected as significantly as other major industries in the country by the COVID-19. While other industries such as tourism, hotels, restaurants, and etc. have to cease operations until the pandemic is over, there has been a gradual growth in the amount of export agricultural products such as rice, cassava, and cinnamon das these products are considered staple food items. The figure illustrates that in the first quarter of 2020, the volume of export rice reached 1.7 million metric tons with USD 774 million increasing 27.8 % in comparison with that of last year.
