The national coconut manufacturers association in Indonesia is currently lobbying the government to negotiate the reduction of entrance fees for their products to China. Currently, Indonesian exporters are charged with entrance fees of around10% of export value for products such as coconut powder and coconut milk. This makes it hard for Indonesian exporters to compete with exporters from Sri Lanka and the Philippines who enjoy a lower entrance fee at around 8%. The national coconut manufacturers expect that the bilateral partnership between Indonesia and China can be used as a means of a bargain to lower down the entrance fee.
