This year the production of cumin and coriander seed has increased compared to 2019. Cumin and coriander are produced in western states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Farmers and traders are left with high stocks but due to rising cases of COVID in this region and imposed lockdown, farmers are unable to go to mandis (wholesale trading places) and the commercial prospect of cumin and coriander may be adversely affected this year. Traders and processors are traveling in interior villages to procure but not all traders can do so.
