After the Idul Fitri holiday, the price of some of the most demanded seafood products such as snapper and mackerel in the Southeast Sulawesi province is currently on the rise. Snapper and mackerel are currently sold at IDR 125.000/Kg and IDR 45.000/kg, up from their price last week at IDR 100.000/Kg and IDR 35.000/Kg, respectively. The price increase has been caused by the low supply as the existing stock of the aforementioned commodities has been mostly consumed by the local consumers before and during the Idul Fitri holiday and because the additional supply from the local fishermen has been slow, as most fishermen in the area have not been able to go to sea due to the bad weather in the region that has happened for in the past two weeks. The local authority predicted that the bad weather in the region will last for at least another week, which could cause the price of the snapper and mackerel to remain high.
