The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has introduced a new regulation that requests all fruits and vegetables imported from any member country of the European Union will be subjected to additional pesticide residue analysis fees of €215 per each delivery. Bulgarian importers are worried that this will significantly increase the fruit and vegetable prices in the country and might even decrease the quality of the products by diminishing them to wastage.
