Following the decreasing supply of imported fruit in Bali province, the price of local fruits is currently on the rise. One fruit that has seen the biggest price increase is rambutan: this fruit is now valued at IDR 18.000/Kg at the traditional markets across this region from its highest average price in the period of April to May at IDR 12.000/Kg. Aside from the low supply of rambutan, the price increase is also attributed to the high demand for this fruit leading up to the religious holiday in this region where the demand for fruits tends to be higher than regular weeks.
