Data released recently by the local agricultural agency in the East Java province has shown that the number of goats and cows available for the production of goat meat and beef is down almost 6% from its number last year. This data was released after the census was done last week to check on the readiness by the farmers and suppliers in this province to accommodate the demand for goat and cow leading up to the Idul Adha holiday at the end of July 2020. One contributing factor for the dip in supply is the slowing down of the economy in general as the effect of the coronavirus pandemic and the clog in logistic in May and June 2020 that made it rather difficult for the farmers to source breeding cow and goat from other provinces to speed up the production.
