Philippines has been recognized globally due to the quality of cacao beans it produces. Such quality is achieved through applying fermentation protocols and giving farmers continuous training by different associations in the country. It joined the recently concluded chocolate trade fair in the Netherlands last February 2020, also known as Cacao Trade Show and Chocolate Festival (CHOCOA). DTI Undersecretary for Trade and Promotions Group of the Philippines stated that the participation in this kind of event will open new market opportunities for the farmers and will expand their reach in various countries within the European Union (EU). The country is aiming to export cocoa beans in Europe and the Americas before end of year 2020.
