Kimi dried figs of Greece are one of the finest figs grown within the EU. The EU subsidizes Greek fig growers who practice natural methods of drying the fruit. The Kimi figs are also with the status of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) by the EU which allows allocating certain amounts of genuine fig trees in certain designated areas and islands. The country produces around 5,500 tons of dried figs using natural drying methods and handpicking techniques in harvesting.
