Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) notes that there could be supply shortages because of the disruptions in the global trade of agricultural goods due to the Covid19 outbreak. The production volumes are declining due to social distancing measures at the farms whereas traders are having increased difficulty with the logistics and delivering their products to the other countries with the air freight, sea freight and truck transports all slowed down.

Furthermore, Russia limited wheat and barley exports, Vietnam and Cambodia issues a similar restriction on rice exports whereas Egypt has limited corn exports. All these restrictions cause further disruptions in the market and may shift trade flows for these particular products.
