Italy is the top export destination for Greek farmed fish exporters, with 45% of the farmed seabass and sea bream fish from Greece exported to Italy.
The export value of Greek fish exports to Italy is over €250 million which is said to have been reduced by 60% due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Italy.
Spain and France being badly affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, Greek fish exports were negatively impacted by these two destinations as well. Greece used to export about 15% of the total exports to Spain and about 12% to France.
Disruptions in the logistics networks and border closures within Europe are said to have caused a significant decrease in exports to European buyers.
