Loukkous region in Morocco hits a new record in sugar production

Sugar production reached new levels in the Loukkos basin for the 2019-2020 agricultural season, exceeding expectations and expected targets for this year.
According to the regional directorate of Agriculture, the interventions have increased the cultivation area to 2,770 hectares. Production increased by 175,932 tonnes, an increase of about 62.5% from the average of the last ten years, noting that the yield reached a high record of 64.6 tonnes per hectare. This new record made it possible to increase farmers' income by 26% compared to the previous season.
