The US government issued approval on a proposed railway connecting Alberta and Alaska over the weekend. The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, as the project has been in discussions since 2015 and only had approval from the Albertan Provincial government. The railway is a big win for Canadian agricultural suppliers as some ports in Southwestern Alaska are up to 4 days closers to key Asian markets than other ports on the Pacific.
