The extreme drought during the summer in Argentina in the provinces of Corrientes and Misiones has caused an average decrease in yerba mate tea production of 15-20%, and some producers have lost up to 30%. Large producers have been highly affected, meaning buyers will need to purchase supplies from small producers at higher prices. Predictions indicate that due to the production decrease, the local and export prices of Argentinian yerba mate will rise during 2022.
