New breed of seed potato in Venezuela produced at 3.600 mts high

The Francisco J. Duarte Astronomy Research Center (CIDA), located in the state of Mérida, Venezuela, decided to produce a seed of high genetic quality called ¨Unica¨ at 3600 meters above sea level and 5 ° C temperature. It is a high-level potato, very yielding, that does not need too much fertilizer. During the test, 40 tons of seed potatoes were obtained. The potato seeds will be distributed among all the workers of the National Astronomical Observatory and other farmers in the village of Apartaderos, in the Andes.
