Global Atlantic Salmon Production Forecasted to Reach Record 3 Million Metric Tons in 2024

Atlantic salmon production is poised to hit a record 3 million metric tons (mmt) after experiencing significant growth in 2022. The global Atlantic salmon farming industry is forecasted to continue expanding in 2023, reaching the historic milestone of 3 mmt in 2024, and this growth is anticipated to persist beyond 2025. The primary contributors to the growth in 2024 will be European salmon farming countries, including Norway, Iceland, the United Kingdom (UK), and the Faroe Islands, with a substantial increase of 5.6%. Meanwhile, other salmon-farming nations such as Canada, Chile, and Australia are forecasted to contribute to the growth with a 1.8% increase.
