This easing of live cattle prices was mainly due to increased cattle numbers present at the sale yards as a result of predicted wet conditions in the coming weeks and producers looking to move livestock off their properties before the rainy weather potentially prevents any livestock movements.
There was an increase in cattle slaughter numbers for the week to 91,683 heads, an increase of 12,649 heads, but the numbers remain below compared to 2021, when the weekly slaughter numbers stood at 97,493 heads.
