Pakistan exports about 60,000 mt of maize and corn annually which was more than 100,000 mt in 2021. It's used for animal feed purposes. As the poultry sector is an important sector in Pakistan and has high local demand so poultry stakeholders also need maize to make the feed for their own poultry. Maize byproducts are a vital part of poultry feed. Chairman, Poultry Association gave the statement that ban on maize should be imposed on ASAP basis as if export of maize continues the local prices of maize shall be increased that will impact both cost and production of poultry. In this regard, the poultry association has requested the ministry of commerce to ban the export of Maize. Chairman poultry association and his team are going to have a second meeting this month with the Ministry of Commerce.
