Cameroonian Banana Exports in April Drop by 19% MoM Due to the Return of Rain

During the month of April 2022, Cameroon exported 18,247 MT of bananas to EU countries against 22,604 MT exported the previous month (-19.2%). In Cameroon, the month of April usually marks the effective transition from the dry season to the rainy season which, despite the cost reduction of farms mechanical watering it brings, also comes with strong winds which has damaged the plant support system put in place. As of now, plantation managers have yet to find a better support system that can help to curb the disastrous effect of these winds on the production during the rainy season.
