Big changes in Portugal almond production industry

The production landscape is rapidly changing for almonds. Portugal is shifting from traditional production to a highly intensive production approach. By the year 2022, the high volume of almonds from the southern growers will supplant the volume from the Northern region orchards. There are newcomers bringing up competitiveness to the market. New producers will focus on exports and are willing to present competitive prices. Singapore and India were mentioned as two possible and desired destinations.
