Vietnam is the number one black pepper-producing country, followed by Brazil and India. In 2021, crop volume was 220 thousand Tons in Vietnam. In 2022, this number dropped by around 9%, while Brazil's crop volume increased by 8 to 9% compared to 2021. The market price in W43 at the Turkish spices market for 500 GL Black pepper from Vietnam is around USD 4,100/Ton after customs duty and all other expenses paid. The same product is being offered for around USD 3,150 to 3,200/Ton CIF Mersin delivery by Vietnamese exporters. Meanwhile, Brazilian Black Pepper's price is lower. EXW price is around USD 2,500 to 2,525/Ton. Since Brazilian black pepper has a price advantage, buyers prefer Brazilian black pepper instead of Vietnam-origin black peppers.
