Ginger sales in Thailand's domestic market have been boosted as the demand among Thai consumers has risen since last week for ginger's characteristics as a pharmafood.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and low vaccination rate in Thailand, Thai people are starting to consume herbs (i.e. ginger, krachai, lemongrass, turmeric and tomyum herbal ingredients). As a result, a shortage of mature (old) ginger is starting due to its low season and high demand. Consequently, the price of ginger is THB 10-30 /kg higher than last week.
