Brazil will start second stage vaccination of foot-and-mouth disease

The second stage of the National Vaccination Calendar 2020 begins on November 3rd. It is expected that 70 million animals, including cattle and buffaloes with up to 2 years of age will be immunized. The last occurrence of foot-and-mouth disease in Brazil was in 2006, in Mato Grosso do Sul. To keep the country free of the disease, the Strategic Plan 2017-2026 of Pnefa established that the technical procedures that must be carried out by the official veterinarians. When the disease is suspected and a contingency plan which describes all the procedures that must be followed.
