The current (week 25) mango prices from Brazil to South Korea are about 10% higher YoY. Prices range from USD 29.50/4kg box to USD 32.80/4kg box CIF, depending on the variety. Several reasons influenced this increase. According to producers and exporters, the main exporting regions such as the São Francisco Valley in the Northeast of Brazil was hit by excessive rainfall, causing producers to spend more on inputs to get through this rainy period. In addition, producers also suffered from rising fertilizer costs. Another important factor is the increase in fuel prices in 2022, in which diesel prices increased by almost 50% YoY. Increased fuel costs lead to increased freight costs, making it less profitable.
