Brazilian revenue from coffee exports in August decreased 2.04% to US$ 417.01 million

Revenue from exports of roasted and unroasted coffee, extracts, essences and concentrates in August was US$ 417.01 million, down 2.04% from the US$ 425.704 million billed in the same month of 2019. Brazil exported in the period 199,967 thousand tons, volume 1.11% higher than the 197,758 thousand tons shipped in August 2019. The data were released this Tuesday (1st) by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy and consider 21 working days of the month of August. According to Secex, an increase of 1.33% compared to the 188,911 thousand tons of the previous year.

Despite the increase in volume, revenue from foreign sales of this type of product fell 0.83% in August, to US$ 370.818 million, against the US$ 373.948 million billed in August last year. In this sense, prices fell by 2.16%, from US$ 1,979 per ton in August 2019 to US$ 1,937 per ton in the same month this year.

Regarding the category of roasted coffee, extracts, essences and concentrates, the volume exported by Brazil decreased by 3.63% in the period, from 8.847 thousand tons in August 2019 to 8.525 thousand tons. Revenue from these products was 10.75% lower, on the same comparative basis, to US$ 46.192 million, against US$ 51.756 million obtained in August of the previous year.
