Bulgaria to increase sunflower cultivation lands in 2021

Lower harvest yields and growing global demand for sunflower seed makes Bulgarian farmers extend sunflower cultivation lands significantly as sunflower exports are increasing from the country. Rapeseed exports on the other hand are in decline and therefore farmers are giving up on rapeseed for next year.
Bulgaria reportedly has imported 636 KMT of sunflower seeds mainly for sunflower meal and sunflower oil production from Romania, Moldova, and Russia. The imported quantities are almost triple in size compared to last year's 224 KMT.
