Early Pecan Nuts varieties such as Pawnee harvest season began in week 39. Last year in 2020, Growers had a hard time getting early offers and buyers were pressing prices downwards. However, this is year is different. Chinese Buyers are coming back to buy in-shell Pecans from the US, now that tariffs have lowered due to the easing of the US-China Trade War. As a consequence of Chinese Buyers being back in the market and very willing to recover their status of the major exporting market for US Pecans, prices of in-shell nuts are rebounding to high levels. Growers, therefore, are not accepting early offers that do not match the market situation which is reflected in rising farmgate prices.
