The US almond industry is experiencing increased demand from buyers from all major markets, while most sellers from California completely withdraw their offers. The reason is that producers are not willing to sell for current market prices as they are below cost. Those growers that do need the money are in such a bad way financially, selling anything at current prices essentially signs their death warrant, so there is no reason to sell.

Fundamentally the market is still over supplied. However, the market is changing direction with more buying needs than selling offers. The shipment report from Friday 9th has made growers even more steadfast on not offering much new crop. It seems at the moment the only thing that is fairly easy to find offers on is old crop Nonpareil kernels and new crop Independence kernels. It is very difficult to find offers on anything else.
