Ribbonfish is only available in limited fishing zones off the coast of Morocco in the southern region of the Atlantic sea. Since Moroccan authorities banned catching in these zones where octopus were overcatched during the biological rest, processing companies and exporters cannot honor their agreements with buyers in South Korea and Taiwan. Shipping has been postponed until the beginning of 2023 with suppliers trying to liquidate the available stock. However, demand is proving to be quite low for ribbonfish.
