The chestnut production campaign in Penela da Beira has been advanced this year, on fifteen days average. It foresees a quantity of about 470 tons, equivalent to that of 2019.

As for the marketing of chestnuts, in the export-based operations, we may expect a slow pace flow due to the private initiative policies this year, in regards to the pandemic caused by the covid-19.

France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Brazil and the United States of America are amidst the common destinations.

“Our expectation is that the product will flow well, a little more slowly than in previous year" underlined a producer.

In 2019, exports ratio were around 92% of production and in 2018 a total of 96%. This year it estimates 80%.

In the national market, analysts foresee that the commercialization of chestnuts is more active than in previous years.
