The first frosts that came in the south zone of Paraguay would not have a great impact on the crops in the south zone, because most Chia crops are found in the San Pedro area, the northern part of the country.
The amount of early crops that will be ready for shipment in July is only 8%. As 86% of the chia crops are expected to finish harvest by July and will only be available in August for shipment. This percentage is mainly due to the drought that the soybean crops suffered during the summer, delaying their harvest, and in turn delaying the sowing of chia in those fields.
Nevertheless, concern this week is for the announced and expected cold weather. At this moment, everyone is hoping that the cold does not drop below 4°C, which is the critical point for frost to appear.
