The Chilean Government's Trade Promotion Agency (ProChile) reported that in Q1-2024, the country's seafood exports reached USD 2.279 billion, a decrease of 1.6% year-over-year (YoY). From Jan-24 to Mar-24, migratory and non-migratory salmon exports totalled USD 1.758 billion, down 0.7% YoY. Fish oil exports reached USD 53 million, a decline of 16% YoY. In contrast, mackerel, mussels, and seaweed exports were USD 110 million, USD 65 million, and USD 27 million, decreasing by 2.6% YoY, 13.2% YoY, and 61.4% YoY, respectively. Conversely, fishmeal exports rose by 44% YoY to USD 141 million, squid exports increased by 53.4% YoY to USD 15 million, and cod exports grew by 40.8% YoY to USD 22 million. Japan, Brazil, and China emerged as the largest export markets for Chilean seafood.
