Chinese authorities have waived the USD 500 registration fee for Kenyan avocados to enable exporters to have smooth access to the Chinese market in order to meet increasing demand. It is estimated that 20-30% of Kenyan avocado exports will head to China and the fee waiver is an effort to increase the export volume to meet the high Chinese demand.

The second batch of exporters to be granted access to China by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), will be made public in early October 2022 thus increasing the number from the current 15 certified exporters to further increase export volume to China.
