From Jan-24 to Feb-24, China's imports of live crabs from Russia surged by nearly 60% year-over-year (YoY). Chinese customs data shows that China imported 5.4 thousand tons of live crabs from Russia on Jan-24 and Feb-24, valued at USD 239.2 million. The imported live crabs from Russia include king crabs, snow crabs, hairy crabs, and other varieties, with king crabs representing about two-thirds of the total volume. Russia is currently the world's largest exporter of live crabs, with exports of this commodity alone reaching a total value of USD 978 million in 2023.
