Many processing plants have closed their doors over the Christmas period and are not set to reopen till 17 January. To add, a large number of processors are calling in sick with the Omicron variant of Covid-19, reducing productivity by as much as 50% in those plants that remained open over the break. This has made the domestic market fall short in supply, increasing demand and price over the last few weeks. As most beef processing plants are resuming operation, prices are expected to be stable by WK 4.
