Consumption of Sweet Potatoes in Portugal

In Portugal, sweet potato consumption starts with Egyptian origin sweet potatoes in November/December. Then, the Portuguese production supplies the market in January and February, while the imported campaign from the US starts in March (in particular the Covington variety in March).
In 2022, due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict affecting the Portuguese exports of sweet potatoes to Russia; there are more Portuguese sweet potatoes available in the market, which is delaying imports from the US by almost one month.
