In the past 5 years, there has been an increase in consumption of vegetable milk, obtained from legumes and cereals. Personal well-being is undoubtedly one of the reasons that encourage Italians to choose plant alternatives over animal-based sources. In fact, vegetable milk is more digestible, healthier, higher in vitamins and fibers, and the only alternative for lactose-intolerant.
Almond milk is the most consumed among Italians, followed by coconut, rice, soy, and hazelnut milk. In 2021, consumption increased by 8.3%, in volume and 7.6% in value.
