Date cultivation gains popularity in Bangladesh

Bangladesh used to import dates from various countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and India. But these dates were not accessible to everyone because they were costly. According to the Department of Agriculture in Bangladesh, commercial cultivation of Saudi dates started in Bangladesh around 2013 and 2014. And now gradually dates cultivation is gaining huge popularity in Bangladesh. Locally produced Saudi dates are slightly sweeter than imported Saudi dates. During Ramadan, demand for dates increases to a considerable extent in Bangladesh. Date cultivation results in lesser imports of dates to Bangladesh since local dates are accessible at lower prices than imported ones.
